A
gig
held at The Bristol Fringe
on Thursday 17th October. The event starts at 20:00.
Jim Blomfield - piano, Roshan'Tosh' Wijetunge - bass, Mark Whitlam - drums
"Jim Blomfield is a marvel" Independent on Sunday. "...seemingly limitless imagination ... " Venue magazine.
The Jim Blomfield Trio's gig back in April was in my opinion one of the best we've had at Fringe Jazz. Since then their long awaited CD'Wave Forms and Sea Changes' has been released to universal critical acclaim and it's interesting to see that the band has recently been invited to support a major visiting American - let's hope this will help to lift their awareness on the national scene.
The classic jazz piano trio format allows Blomfield the musical freedom to explore and expand his riveting and absorbing original compositions and complex ensemble writing with adventurous solos and group improvisations . Jim, Mark and Tosh have been together in the trio for several years and have developed an almost telepathic understanding that is really exciting to watch. Doors open at 8PM and the music starts at 8.30.
