St Patrick's Day Celebration with Joe & The Temperance Two at The Bristol Fringe
Free Entry

A gig held at The Bristol Fringe on Tuesday 17th March. The event starts at 20:00.

It's St Patrick's Day with Joe Mansfield & the Temperance Two and they are bringing traditional string band tunes into the Bristol Fringe, and no better place to be on this glorious day for some old-time fiddling, driving guitar, and frailing banjo delivered with enough grit and groove to lift any crowd! So get here early, line up your Guinness' and prepare yourself for a night full of Irish cheer! Formed in late 2021 through Bristol’s rich scene of trad acoustic sessions Joe Mansfield & the Temperance Two are united by a shared passion for Appalachian folk music. Fiddler and vocalist Joe Mansfield was joined by guitarist Kai Carter (Kai & Hollis) and Yannick Allerton (Barbican) on clawhammer banjo. Rooted in swift, hypnotic rhythms and tight chordal drive, the trio cut their teeth hosting sessions in punk pubs and busking outside student bars, before moving onto stages for wider folk audiences. Highlights include opening for genre-defining artists Tatiana Hargreaves and Allison de Groot, and selling out London’s Green Note. Toughened by a busy live schedule, the band recorded their anticipated debut album 'First Time at a War', in just three days. Reviews praise the bands passion and musicality, with singles receiving rotation on Washington DC’s Bluegrass Country radio.
