A
gig
held at The Bristol Fringe
on Tuesday 4th July. The event starts at 20:00.
For the last gig of the summer at FITR we are really excited to present two exciting sets to end this great season of music. We have:
'Twospeak'- a fascinating fourpiece that unite a whole host of different inspirations: 'Twospeak's music is about strong melodies and exploring textures through composing and improvising. They aim for an immediacy for the listener like an indie or rock band does and encompass a range of influences including jazz, electronic and contemporary classical music. On tour presently from London, touring their new album 'Fictions', we are very happy to be hosting this brilliant outfit at FITR.
They comprise:
Ronan Perrett- alto saxophone
Mike De Souza- guitar
Joseph Costi- synths
Ben Brown- drums and percussion
The second set will be from 'Living Standards' a new duo that brings together the talents of Kay Grant on voice, and Martin Vishnick on acoustic guitar. It is a pleasure to host their first gig of this new project:
'Living Standards began life with a mutual wish to play the great songbook in a way that honours the tunes and their stories while finding fresh pathways to explore. A shared background in multiple styles – from free improv to classical, rock and pop – informs their soundworld, bringing together standards, originals and freer passages. Taking inspiration from voice/guitar duos – think Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass, Julie London and Bernie Kessel, Alison Burns and Martin Taylor – this debut gig sees Grant and Vishnick balance precariously on the shoulders of those giants.'
This promises to be a fantastic and musically very broad ranging evening, exciting!
We hope you can make it down!
Doors 19.30, music from 20.00. As ever, pay what you feel, recommended £10.
