Meet The Situation! Bristol’s freshest beat/rnb/rock ’n’ roll outfit. One would be forgiven for mistaking No. 1 Harbourside for the Cavern circa 1962 on Sat 3rd Sept, as these vigorous young rock ’n’ roll revivalists pick up the beat where the fab four left off!
With a cannon of brilliantly crafted, original, melodic, early 60s-inspired pop songs, these guys take a refreshingly updated and mature approach to a style of music that’s all too easy to make obvious choices within. This ain’t no cheap imitation… this is a group of super keen young fellas (average age 20) who genuinely understand what made the music of this era great, and can’t wait to show us their unique spin on it (recalling fellow Beatles nuts the Lemon Twigs).
Songwriting aside - as players, the Situation have some serious rock ’n’ roll chops - unleashing impressively complex, yet tasteful pop licks and progressions seemingly effortlessly, with an energy and ferocity that rivals their 60s counterparts. And most importantly of all, they look like they’re having the best time ever doing it!
Interspersed with covers of old favourites and deep cuts, this is a set that’ll quickly make you realise there’s no Situation you’d rather be in.
