// THE NATURALS //

With over a decade together The Naturals have evolved into a singular and fiercely independent band. Pooling resources from their own practices of art, design and film making whilst maintaining strong ties to Bristol’s diverse musical lineage, the culmination of years of experimentation and refining resulted in the release of their debut album Hive on Howling Owl Records in November 2015.

Deeply rooted within Bristol’s musical heritage, The Naturals serve as a link between the dense, bass heavy genesis that pervades through the city and the more abstract fringes of guitar music. Completing tours with label mates Spectres and curating immersive live experiences in Bristol’s revered Arnolfini auditorium, The Naturals have performed their music across a wide spectrum of venues and environments, even being invited to perform in the surreal setting of the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Members of the esteemed Howling Owl family and close affiliates to the multi-pronged Young Echo Collective, The Naturals have taken cue from their peers by maintaining a strong aesthetic through their artwork and videos, all of which are conceived and created by the band themselves, upholding a DIY mentality shared by many in their circle.

The maintenance of this singular vision is ultimately realised in the music. Recorded with Howling Owl mainstay Dominic Mitchison (Velcro Hooks, Spectres) and mixed by Young Echo’s own Vessel (TriAngle, Opal Tapes) Hive shows The Naturals at the height of their powers. Guitars morph into sanguine currents and voices dance with fluttering lucidity, whilst bass and drums crack and thunder like titans in the mix.

Periods of hiatus have served only to strengthen The Naturals, reaching the zenith of Hive with sights set on pushing further into the unknown with their music and their art, a crossed hatched jungle of rhythm, noise and colour.

Here’s to the next decade.

// SILVER WAVES //

Tightly orchestrated symphonic noise paired with bludgeoning splinter rhythms and fractious melodies to create brutal electronic epics, which leave senses nourished and obliterated in equal part. A bruised and feedback-damaged take on amen break abandon that pounds like early Wolf Eyes, betraying the kind of ear for detail that an HD soundsystem will no doubt reward.

// JESUITS //

Bristol trio Jesuits blur borders utilising a blend of gothic-rock, trap music, shoegaze & experimental electronics, attempting to reach a trancelike state from rhythm & groove based aesthetics. Ethereal drones & loops create a blank canvas for repeating noise, choral melody & pulsing patterns.

To-date, the band have accumulated support slots with acts as prominent as The Black Lips, Ariel Pink, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Wand, alongside joining Telegram on their UK tour. Jesuits also garnered press & radio attention, including Time Out Magazine and John Kennedy on Radio X.
