A
gig
held at The Cube
on Friday 22nd July. The event starts at 20:00.
'Songbird of the melancholy midnight' (Venue magazine) Jacques, a robin is an explorer of existential depths and childlike reveries, singing his songs of hope and obsession in a warm, velvet baritone voice.
On Friday 22 July at The Cube, Bristol, he launches'Statuettes' (Hortus), his debut chamber-pop album featuring 16 musicians and reminiscent of Antony and the Johnsons, 4AD, dark-folk and a soft indie-pop vein. 'Statuettes' will be performed by a smaller ensemble at the Cube, with more songs from Jacques' surreal repertoire, plus visuals, dance and poetry.
'Statuettes' is co-produced with Stew Jackson (Phantom Limb, Massive Attack) and features'7 anatomies of melancholy', 7 stories based on archetypal characters caught in dreamy and eerie atmospheres. More info plus tracks available here: http://www.jacquesarobin.com
