An engaging showman and raconteur defying categorisation, Delaney's songs are dirty, lonesome, restless and wildly engrossing. Part wandering minstrel, part travelling salesman, he uses a guitar, a loop pedal, a harmonica and his voice to produce music variously described as'dark, haunted, whiskey-drenched, tobacco-stained vagabond folk' and'neo-blues, noir trash and avant rock'.
