'Punky, grungy post-rock variation on electric jazz that resonates with the times.'

Based in London and Berlin, Let Spin is a cutting-edge post-jazz quartet whose headbangingly hypnotic grooves could wake the dead. The highly acclaimed group – saxophonist Chris Williams (Led Bib; Sarathy Korwar; The Heliocentrics), bassist Ruth Goller (Acoustic Ladyland; Skylla; Melt Yourself Down; Laura Jurd), guitarist Moss Freed (Union Division; Spike Orchestra) and drummer Finlay Panter (Beats & Pieces Big Band) – have been making waves in the vibrant UK and European contemporary jazz scenes since their formation in 2012.

Distinguished by a remarkable collaborative interplay between the four musicians, their music is high energy and intense but also intricate and nuanced. Mixing disparate stylistic influences and explosive improvisation into incendiary live performances, they allow the music to venture into territories that are unforeseen even to the musicians themselves – whether kaleidoscopically atmospheric, off-the-wall thrashy, infectiously dub-y, trippily Pink Floyd-esque, or muscularly in-your-face.

'I Am Alien' (Discus Music), the band's latest and strongest record to date, captures the chemistry and curiosity of a band that lives for adventure, and introduces an expansion of their sound worlds and explorations with the additions of Ruth Goller's vocals and Chris Williams' flute.
