INU-OH
DIr: Masaaki Yuasa, Japan, China, 2021, 98 mins, Cert 15

INU-OH is a musical animation about Inu-Oh, a real-life Sarugaku Noh performer and playwright who enjoyed great success in 14th-century Japan. However, he is all but unknown nowadays because very few documents about his life have survived the times. Now around 600 years later, “INU-OH”, full of music and dance sequences, portrays a tale of friendship between the legendary Inu-Oh who vanished from history and the Biwa player he befriended.

Animated film director Masaaki Yuasa made his feature-length debut in 2004 with Mind Game and his film LU OVER THE WALL won the Cristal for Best Feature Film at the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival. His latest film Ride Your Wave won the Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2019 Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival and was also nominated for a 2021 Annie Award.

INU-OH is the first outing of the Cube's Anime Season.
