Bristol Palestine Film Festival presents:
SALMA'S HOME

Dir. Hanadi Elyan | Genre: Drama, comedy | Year: 2022 | Location: Jordan, US| Duration: 95 mins | Language: Arabic with English subtitles

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with one of the lead actors, Rania Kurdi.

Three women with distinct personalities must put their differences aside and work together in order to survive, after a death in the family unravels their lives.

Salma is a talented baker living alone in a large old house overlooking downtown Amman in Jordan and her daughter Farah is a young working mother with marital problems. Their lives are disrupted by the death of Salma’s ex-husband, which forces them to take in a new housemate, his current wife Lamia, an aspiring socialite who is obsessed with building her brand online. After the funeral, shocking facts come to light leading to territorial clashes which force the three women to accept some harsh realities and take control of their lives.

RANIA KURDI:

Rania is a bi-cultural and bi-lingual actress who was the first Jordanian artist to achieve pan-Arab success as a comedian, TV presenter, and singer.

She received huge recognition for her work as the producer, writer and star of her own Arab TV sketch show 'The Rania Show' before moving back to live in England in 2013.

Her resume includes work for Abu Dhabi TV, Showtime, CNN and LBC, where she presented the phenomenally popular Superstar (aka Pop Idol) in Lebanon for Fremantle Media and had the chance to co-host alongside Ant and Dec in World Idol in the UK.
