See event details

A event held at The Cube on Saturday 13th June. The event starts at 10:00.

We’re excited to invite you to a 2 day workshop and performance event for the making of The People’s Puppet Opera at The Cube Microplex on the 13th and 14th June 2026. The idea of the weekend is to make a collaborative puppet show in just 2 days! We encourage participation from people with zero performing or making experience. To make sure we reach those people, we have a form for participation available here: https://forms.gle/ABqkeNzXp1nYGypg7 Participants: This is a free workshop, however we are limited to 15 spaces We have an application form for participation, however if this is a barrier to you just send us an email at [email protected] ! We want to give participants creative freedom to try something completely new, a space to platform weird and imperfect creations that might not fit anywhere else. If you don’t know us, it's quite obvious, we are not perfectionists, and there is no pressure to finish anything to any standard. We value the personal life and meaning of handmade creatures and want to give you the chance to bring something to life, or to find the life in something, and walk on stage amongst beautiful object spirits. We hope to bring our process of chaotic joy and creation to a new group that is willing to step into the puppet realm and have some funn! Let us know if you can’t make it! More details on what’s happening over the weekend: On Saturday, we’ll start the day with a narrative workshop, followed by puppet making, a lunch break and then musical workshop. If you find your niche with a specific workshop you are welcome to continue working on your project all day while the other workshops happen, and there's always Sunday to finish off ideas. Then, on Sunday, we’ll put the finishing touches on our creations and rehearse before the big performance that evening. This is your chance to perform and create something unique perhaps never to be seen again. We will make this message from the puppet realm together and treat our unsuspecting audience to this feverish spell. Come along, bring your imagination, and let’s create something unforgettable!
