"What woman wouldn't want to be Keaton...And what man, of any age, wouldn't want to be with her?"
Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly

In the last couple of months, we've lost two of the most charismatic - not to mention sexiest - stars in Hollywood history: Diane Keaton and Robert Redford. Sadly, Keaton and Redford never shared the screen (fire safety concerns, perhaps?), but we're screening two films which showcase how they both combined smarts and beauty to devastatingly charming effect.

Diane Keaton's second collaboration with Nancy Meyers is an absolutely delightful showcase for Ms. Keaton's wit and warmth.

Like other films associated with female audiences, the Keaton/Meyers collabs are sometimes dismissed as disposable fluff - but those who have actually seen the films know that they're full of genuinely funny set-pieces, absorbing storylines, and - above all - brilliant performances.

How can you resist the chance to see Keanu Reeves flirt outrageously with Diane Keaton? Or to see Diane run circles round Jack Nicholson? Throw in Frances McDormand and the consistently underrated Amanda Peet, and you have the best comedy ensemble this side of The Philadelphia Story.

But at the centre of it all, of course, is Diane Keaton, the lovably flawed heroine who stole our hearts through more than 50 years of stardom.

"A comedy of manners (and mannerisms) with two of the most mannered movie stars of our time, Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson, acting all over the place until you surrender with the ecstasy of pure pleasure."
Red Reed, The Observer
