A Tale of Springtime 8pm at The Cube
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Winter is out, the cursed French Parent Trap is IN! An unlikely friendship leads to a carefully orchestrated romantic reshuffle in Éric Rohmer’s A Tale Of Springtime, the mischievous opening chapter in his acclaimed 90s tetralogy. Sun-dappled social gamesmanship and dinner table philosophy abound – it’s a psychosexual comedy of manners for all seasons."

A event held at The Cube on Thursday 26th March. The event starts at 20:00.

Dir: Éric Rohmer, 1990, 1hr 52m French with English subtitles, Cert: U

Thurs 26 March // 20:00
Tickets: £5

The weather warms, the clouds part, and the first part of Rohmer's seasonal tetralogy descends from the sky unto the Cube.

In 1990, French master of cinema Éric Rohmer inaugurated his 4 movie cycle, Tales of the Four Seasons, with this gorgeous work. Jeanne, a philosophy teacher, and Natacha, a music student, meet by chance and become friends fast after Natacha invites Jeanne to stay with her family at a country house. Seeing an opportunity to do away with her father's unsuitable girlfriend, Natacha hatches a plan involving her houseguest. Hijinks ensue.

Sumptuously photographed by Luc Pagès in a beautiful house with a dreamy garden, Rohmer's insight into interpersonal relations is as razor sharp as ever, and he crafts a superb atmosphere that will prepare you for a fantastic springtime. And don't forget, there are 3 seasons that come after spring, and 3 films that come after this one...
