A delicate portrait of finding hope when you least expect it.
Award-winning filmmaker Dea Kulumbegashvili (the incredible Beginning) returns with April, a tense, stunningly shot drama about the quiet horror of life under patriarchal rule. Produced by Luca Guadagnino and featuring a magnetic lead performance from Ia Sukhitashvili, April offers a slow-burn portrait of survival, sacrifice, and resistance — set against some of the most beautiful and brutal landscapes ever captured on film.
When a tragic loss during childbirth triggers an official investigation, Nina, a skilled doctor in rural Georgia, finds her double life under threat. By day, she’s a trusted figure in the local hospital; by night, she travels dusty backroads providing abortions for women with nowhere else to turn. As the community closes in, Nina must navigate mounting hostility, her own buried traumas, and a system built to punish those who step out of line.
