Smashing Times and Garden Centre at The Cube
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Swinging 60s freakbeat meets 80s Dunedin via modern day Baltimore anachro-marvels! The Smashing Times are a genuine gem outside of time, shimmering with classic pop melodies and wonkily twee flourishes. Jangle revivalists rejoice! FFO: Television Personalities, Felt, The Cleaners from Venus, Olivia Tremor Control, The Reds Pinks & Purples."

A gig held at The Cube on Wednesday 4th December. The event starts at 19:30.

THE SMASHING TIMES (Baltimore, USA)
Vaguely psychy and twee indie pop from the States, obviously inspired by the likes of Television Personalities, Sarah Records, etc., and with a catalogue full of amazing songs to back it up. Touring the UK, and in Bristol for the first time in support of their last album This Sporting Life, and a new one coming November 2024 on K Records.

GARDEN CENTRE (London)
Long-running indie folk project from Max Levy and friends. “It’s not quite right to say that this sounds like Joanna Newsom—because objectively it mostly doesn’t—but the sound of this band could exist in the same twee faerie world she inhabits, maybe in a rougher gnome-pop corner of the same fanciful garden.” - Razorcake Zine.
