Past Works Recycling Plant: Time Pieces by Deborah Pearson at The Cube
See event details

A event held at The Cube on Wednesday 5th November. The event starts at 20:00.

Past Works Recycling Plant is a night of ‘recycled’ performance curated by artist duo Emergency Chorus: a repository for retired shows, remixed material, whirlwind retrospectives and rescued ideas, where the old is discovered anew.

For this special edition, we are delighted to present Time Pieces by acclaimed live artist and playwright Deborah Pearson.

Time Pieces consists of reworked versions of two widely toured shows of Deborah's: Like You Were Before (2010) and The Future Show (2013), both of which explore time, memory, nostalgia and autobiography.

In Like You Were Before, Deborah uses camcorder footage from the last day she lived in Canada in 2005, attempting to re-insert herself into the frame. A solo show about moving forwards, backwards. For this event, Deborah will reworking the show using documentation of the show taken exactly ten years ago, reflecting on entropy, capitalism, and just getting older.

The Future Show was an impossible autobiography: the story of Deborah's future, starting from the end of the performance and going until the end of her life, which was re-written for each performance to be both site and time-specific. In partnership with Bristol School of Acting, this version will be written and performed by 10 young people from a score by Pearson, adapted from the original show.
