Worm Disco Club in association with sounduk, are very happy to announce the return of Ariwo.
They are about to release their 2nd LP 'Quasi', a record of mesmerising and deep scope, featuring some hugely talented musicians, and they will be visiting Bristol as part of a nationwide tour to play their immersive live set.
Those who follow what we do, will remember we first bought this act to Bristol, last September for a proper stomping event at Fiddlers.
We rate their blend of huge bass, hypnotic electronic rhythms & atmospherics, mixed with live percussion and Trumpet as one of the most unique live prospects out there.
"Dark, mesmeric, uplifting and danceable.” (Evening Standard),
Ariwo’s sets are arresting affairs, holding audience’s hostage to their hypnotic grooves as they invite them into a new sound world.
Ariwo (meaning 'Noise' in Yoruba) bring together Iranian electronic composer Pouya Ehsaei; Carlos Acosta and Irakere’s Latin Grammy winning 'percussion virtuoso' Hammadi Valdes; figurehead of London's Cuban music scene, Oreste Noda; and Ropeadope’s award-winning Jazz trumpeter Jay Phelps. Plus, a special guest to be announced.
New album Quasi out 15 April 2019 -
