The Hogranch are Keith Howard, Sean Hogan, Bob Pepper & Deb Howard
Having played bluegrass festivals in England, the Netherlands, France and the USA the band have honed their own take on American music from the 1950s to the present day. With various combinations of the four voices, expect to hear interesting harmony and subtle instrumentation as they play their way around festivals, pubs, Arts Centres music venues and local markets.
Sean (banjo) has sung and played with other bands in Bristol, Keith (guitar) played with the country rock band “The Hanks”. Both Bob (mandolin) and Deb (double bass) took up their instruments later in life and also play classical pieces in the Bristol Mandolin and Guitar Ensemble.
Their influences range through Bill Munroe, Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Peter Rowan and Ryan Adams. They play their own arrangements of many known and less-known songwriters and Keith and Bob also write songs for the band. Half of the tracks on their CD “Ridden Hard and Put Away Wet” are self-penned.
