Pressgang Mutiny | Tuesday 11th August
Doors: 19:00 | Show: 20:00

Tickets: £15.00

All the way from Toronto, Canada, Pressgang Mutiny are coming to the UK and it is an honour to have them make their first appearance in Bristol, at the Folk House. A group of musicians, sailors, friends, Pressgang Mutiny really understand the shanty tradition and its parallels with other working song traditions. Their repertoire ranges from traditional acappella interpretations of the shanties we all love to more regional songs and tunes from their part of the World. In their latest project, Pressgang Mutiny have been drawing connections with genres that share social, rhythmic, and communal roots, resulting in their new work Departure. In this show, the group will be touring with a DJ, they will all play instruments, and the set will be a mix of acapella, accompanied, and production tracks. So something for everyone.

They are also known for their popular podcast, "The Shanty Show" which delves into all things 'shanty'.

Pressgang Mutiny have toured extensively at major festivals across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean. In 2026, they have some limited dates at UK Festivals and a couple of local venues. We are delighted Bristol is one of the few places you can catch them in the UK this year

The guys will be supported by one of our local shanty crews, High & Dry, who are based around the Mendips but travel extensively in the SW and beyond,  attending festivals and appearing locally. High & Dry are also the organisers of the annual Bristol Shanty Shout, and some of the proceeds of the event will go towards the costs of this popular weekend in September.
