A event held at Bristol Folk House on Wednesday 8th July. The event starts at 19:45.
Elsie Rhymes' Poetry Party is a new, seasonal poetry event hosted by Elsie, with two guest poets. This second, summer edition's guests are Jo Eades and Steve Selby.
Among other accolades Jo has won the Lyra Bristol Poetry Slam, the Poetry Shack Slam at WOMAD Festival and the Ledbury Poetry Festival Slam. Her debut pamphlet “Flanked” was published by Burning Eye Books in October 2025.
Stephen Selby is the proud owner of two poetry scarves. A stalwart of the Bristol poetry scene, expect tales of mermaids, wobbly handrails and misbehaving monkeys as he takes you on a magical journey from the depths of the sea to the beauty of a sunrise.
Regularly featured on the radio on BBC Upload and named one of their best poets of 2025, open mic frequenter and stand up poet Elsie Rhymes is here to entertain you, to touch you and to tease you with tales of love, food, nature and everyday life.
Relaxed and informal, uplifting and thought provoking, with a few laughs thrown in to amuse. Expect different themes and styles of poetry to inspire and tickle your poetry tastebuds. A good excuse to mingle with the poets and perhaps make new friends over an imaginary cheese and pineapple hedgehog. Come and share a drink with us at the lovely Folk House bar, sit back, relax and dip your fingers into our poetry pies!
