A gig held at The Gallimaufry on Sunday 20th October. The event starts at 20:00.

Sun Sessions w/ Bokito
Support from: Alexander Sun & Roberta Pia

Bokito are a 5 piece London-based but largely Irish-bred band. Bokito beckons listeners into impulsive and unfettered behaviour, both remotely and in the flesh at their remarkable live shows, with a tightly-packaged, uproarious mix of indie, rock and perfect pop cadence that hooks listeners in and gives them something to hum along with for the rest of the week.

Enigmatic frontman Moses acts on instinct, radiating a soulful, primordial energy that dares the listener to follow him into the uninhibited - unleashing his extraordinary vocal range to pull listeners in. Strings (Jody on bass & Joe on lead guitar) and keys (Sam) mingle kaleidoscopically to form a rich, layered sound giving Bokito the range to go from the more hook-led Love Gotten to the ethereal, haunting Aloof while retaining a signature sound that’s unmistakably their own. All supported with the unerring rumble of rolling drum beats (Tom), that conjure up visions of the fallen gorilla from which the band takes their name.

Drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as J Dilla, Jeff Buckley, Fela Kuti, Justin Timberlake and Queens of the Stone Age, the group’s perpetually energetic modern indie is regulated by ergonomic melodies that make sure that the polished Bokito sound never spills over into the frantic. Paired with Moses’ often honest and introspective lyrics, the five-piece splits the diff between life’s light and dark sides to leave plenty for listeners to take from each play.
