Mohamed Errebbaa is a Master of Gnawa Music, Guembri player and singer originally from Rabat, Morocco. Mohamed will bring his trio to the Gallimaufry. Driss Yamdah (Morocco) will play Krakeb (metal castanets) and Bala PD (India) on percussion.
Mohamed’s live set will harness the deep trance power of the Gnawa repertoire bringing elements of desert blues and heavy groove to lift the spirits and dance.
Mohamed is steeped in traditional Gnawa music which combines a repertoire of over 100 songs with ceremony, dance and rituals practiced for centuries. Gnawa music connects elements of the Arab music of the North and the music of sub-Saharan Africa with Sufi mysticism. The instruments he plays include Guembri (Moroccan Bass);Voice; Castanets; percussion; Djembe & Bendir.
Mohamed has performed masterclasses and workshops all across the globe, tonight he will be bringing his immersive powers to The Gallimaufry.
