Soul Ingredients - 9.30pm at The Golden Lion

A gig held at The Golden Lion on Saturday 16th January. The event starts at 20:00.

Rising from the ashes of the legendary Bristol Soul Band'The Soul Searchers', The Soul Ingredients carry on in the same tradition of authentic Stax style soul and R&B.

Defined by the thunderous roar of Pete Coggins' vocal and tight horn parts over dirty, funky grooves and tough driving rhythms - this 6 piece is guaranteed to blow you away with its excellent musicianship and dynamic energy!

This is not another suit wearing show band tribute to'The Commitments', this is earthy gritty soul in the vein of Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Al Green etc.

This is music born out of the blues and bathed in gospel, this is music that is driving , honest and intense. This is Soul Music!

'I'm a late arrival on Saturday and the party is in full swing for Pete Coggins' old-school gravel vocals with the Soul Ingredients. Proving that the spirit of the 60s R&B boom has never dimmed the band wrestle every last drop of rocking energy out of their well-chosen repertoire of covers, with gleefully grandstanding solos aplenty. There's more intoxicating fun in this music than any of the Coritap's notorious barrels (though they might have fuelled some of it, of course) and the audience responds appropriately. '
