A
gig
held at The Golden Lion
on Sunday 11th December. The event starts at 16:00pm.
Bristol based, the Loose Wheels play an engaging mix of acoustic Bluegrass, Blues & Country. Their mission is to cherry-pick some of the lesser known gems from these music-styles and bring them to a new audience. Never less than entertaining, the Loose Wheels are a good-time band.
George May - previouly the lead singer with Soul Doubt and rock band Hit and Run in years gone by, George now performs with the popular Bristol band Lost Eleven.
Plays banjo which he's convinced gets harder the longer he tries - Earl has got a lot to answer for. Also plonks away on the acoustic guitar and occasionally toots on the harmonica. Still sings.
Steve Webb - after various brushes with fame and obscurity with bands too numerous to mention, Steve can now be found playing bass for Lost Eleven. With the Loose Wheels he is at last able to satisfy his creative instincts with trademark runs and licks on acoustic and electric guitars as well as providing some powerful lead vocals and harmonies.
Rich Lanham - providing as much bottom-end as anybody could wish for, Rich's bass-playing pedigree includes 60's prog-rockers Originn (with Steve, above) and pro assignments with the likes of MacArthur Park amongst others. Rich now divides his time playing with
The Barry walsh Band but has only recently discovered the true meaning of life which is Bluegrass and Country music.
Charlie Rose - Charlie's stratospheric fiddle takes the Loose Wheels to another level - and so does his fine piano playing, we're lucky to have him on board.
His musical skills have been in demand in such outfits as The Whole Band (with Martin Moss), the Kirris Riviere Blues Band, the well-loved Fatman Swings and the classy Soul Searchers to name but a few.
Trish Warmington - completes the line-up contributing her mellifluous vocal talents on lead and harmonies. Trish famously fronted the unique and much-missed Bristol ensemble The Incredible Johnny Smith Sound as the esoteric Cerise Lushbody - the face that launched a blouse and hips.
