Amanna / Bec Garthwaite at The Greenbank
See event details

A gig on Friday 10th November. The event starts at 19:30.

Cuculi Presents an evening with London-based trio Amanna for their first ever Bristol gig. Bringing together the diverse sounds of Dunja Botic (Don Kipper), Ines Loubet and Rey Yusuf (Something Sleeps), the trio seamlessly blend their eclectic musical personalities into a rich tapestry of vocal harmony and percussive sounds. We're also thrilled to have a solo set of subtle psych-folk from Bec Garthwaite (Hands of the Heron) to open the evening.

This show takes place in the intimate space above The Greenbank Pub. Cuculi shows usually sell out, so we strongly recommend buying tickets in advance from our three tiers: general release (£11); low income (£8); community supporter (£15).

Having multiple ticket tiers makes the event accessible to people on different incomes while still making sure the artists take home a decent wage. Please consider which tier is most affordable for you - the low income option is capped, but talk to us if we've sold out of that option and a higher tier is not accessible for you.

BEC GARTHWAITE

Bec Garthwaite pours an innately detailed craftsmanship into her songwriting. Her fingerpicked guitar strings construct a cat’s cradle in which her gentle, defiant voice can unfold itself, syllable by syllable, note by deliberate note. There’s a sense of wry melancholy in her dreamlike sound, as though she has looked right into the kaleidoscope and needs to tell us, with quiet assurance and lyrical poetry, what she saw between the lines .

As a longstanding member of dreamfolk trio Hands of the Heron, she has contributed performed at festivals and venues across the UK, and contributed multiple songs to their repertoire including ‘Softly Spoken Woman’, ‘Making Space’ and ‘Skipping Rope’. Her debut solo album is currently in the works, and we hope to release it sometime in 2024.
