The Low Line at The Greyhound Fishponds

A gig on Friday 19th June. The event starts at 20:00.

The Low Line is a new band featuring experienced performers Afra Jurkiewicz and Joe Mansfield. Afra, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist based in the Welsh borders came to the banjo, after performing on piano and accordion in Poland. Joe, a Bristol based strings player and singer, is best known for fronting Joe & the Temperance Two on fiddle.

The duo formed in 2024 to explore music traditional to the Appalachian mountains. Centring their work around fretless banjo and viola (both strung in special low tunings) the pair are drawn to the richness and depth of both the material as well as their instruments.

Their live gigs are already receiving rave reviews “Impressive musicianship... hypnotic... deep and resonant” Old Time News.

And bookings are currently being made for festivals and folk venues in Spring and Summer 2026.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
