Amity X DFM w/ MI-EL, Sarra Wild at The Island
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"In Amity we trust! Linking with Dancing For Money to bring you two fearlessly experimental and hard hitting selectresses MI-EL (Venue MOT / NTS / Big Dyke Energy) and Sarra Wild (OH141) for a no-barriers night of apocalyptic post-grime, jackin’ ballroom, alien dancehall, grunge trap and genre soup."

A clubnight held at The Island on Friday 22nd September. The event starts at 22:00.

Big big big link up as Amity collaborate with one London's most exciting promoters, Dancing For Money.

DFM have fast established themselves as a key figure in LDN through a conscious cultural exchange between Ireland and the UK. This has led to bookings such as Sputnik One & EMBY, Small Crab, Rory Sweeney, Fio Fa, Ghostphone, DJ Polo, Changsie & more...

Now, DFM come to Bristol and bring some of London's & Ireland's most exciting selectors with them:

MI-EL
Sarra Wild
Glimmerman B2B Cachai

- MI-EL -

If you have so much as a little finger on the pulse of south London’s unfuckwithable club scene, chances are MI-EL needs absolutely no introduction. MI-EL's genre-bending sets exude the energy that she does, as comfortable playing classic Dancehall, Drill and Rap as she is frenetic Footwork and high-octane Techno.

Emerging as co-booker of south Bermondsey institution Venue MOT after her time as one of the driving forces behind the live stream and party series Late Night Shopper, MI-EL has gone on to light up Corsica Studios, Keep Hush, NTS and HÖR Berlin.

These exploits have lead the impeccable selector to an NTS Radio show, named Pulling Threads, bookings from REEF Berlin in Panorama Bar and numerous festival sets across 2023.

Expect energy. Bring energy.

- Sarra Wild -

If you crave sets that effortlessly traverse through the trenches of fast & dark techno, emerge into Lebanese pop and swan-dive through noise mutations into bass-riddled dancehall, all in the time it takes to drink an Irn-Bru - you know where you need to be.

Born to Algerian and Senegalese parents and raised in Glasgow, Sarra is the founder of club night and arts platform OH141, performing at and curating events around the UK and internationally. Wild has created a celebratory space focusing on showcasing groundbreaking talent by/for women, BPOC and LGBTQ+ artists. Wild makes bold curatorial choices for their own parties, inviting radically exciting acts such as Flohio, Pan Daijing, Gaika, DJ Storm, BFDM and Heiroglyphic Being to perform alongside local artists.

All of this hard work has led to a busy 2023 for Sarra, with appearances on HÖR, Rinse, NTS and sets across Europe. This doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon...

- Glimmerman B2B Cachai -

Support worthy of a headline slot themselves, we welcome two of Ireland's best exports - only losing the top spot to Guinness.

Hailing from Ireland and currently based in London, Glimmerman is an Irish DJ and producer known for his captivating musical style. With a deep appreciation for diverse genres, he curates dynamic DJ sets that showcase fast-paced, multi-genre mixes.

Cachai is a DJ based in Dublin who has established himself as one of the most promising selectors in Ireland’s growing bass music scene. Tapping into his Chilean heritage, his sets weave through reggaeton, cumbia, dembow, intertwined with UK bass, dubstep and techno.

UPDATE FROM THE VENUE

Cup policy
As part of our sustainability pledge, we have now moved to reusable stainless steel cups.
You will be handed a token on entry, which represents the value of a cup. Bring this to the bar for your first purchase. When you are ready to buy another drink, bring your dirty cup with you, and it will be replaced with a clean one. If you no longer have your dirty cup, you will be charged a non-refundable fee of £3 for a clean cup, which you can then have replaced with a clean one every time you purchase a drink from our bar.

Bar menu
Our new bar menu is now a vibrant, clean selection; it was inspired by the personality of our unique, DIY venue, with mainland-European influences (visit https://drive.google.com/file/d/114PZDJ7RDJM7dj27IXkxQqoiCI7iGjKe/view to check it out!)

And a reminder that our entrance is on Bridewell Street, opposite Rough Trade; the venue is, unfortunately, inaccessible to wheelchair users.
