The Repair Workshops - Hems at The Island
See event details

A event held at The Island on Monday 6th July. The event starts at 18:00.

Hems
Hem worn, come undone, too short or too long?

Learn how to fix and alter hems by both hand and machine. The class will start with demonstrations of both hand and machine hemming including invisible, pin and rolled hems. You will be guided through shortening hems as well as extending them though 'letting down' or adding a false hem if required. You can then explore using these methods to repair and alter your own garments in the final part of the session.
Sewing machines, equipment and haberdashery are provided. Please bring a variety of garments to practise on suitable for your ability. Nothing too precious to start!
