Chips or Chalk

'Chips or Chalk' is an exhibition of new abstract paintings by Luke Teale. Made over a period of seven months in one of the artists’ studios at The Island, the paintings are all oil paint on panel and canvas, layered and scraped back dozens of times through a process of trial and error.
The work looks to embrace the uncertainty between recognition and abstraction, inviting the viewer to inhabit a place that is familiar yet impossible to fully locate.
