Parallel - Photography Exhibition at The Island
Free

A event held at The Island on Thursday 25th June. The event starts at 18:00.

Parallel is a photography exhibition by Abril Sigle exploring life inside St Catherine’s Place in Bristol, a site shaped by redevelopment, shifting uses, and changing ideas of home. Once a shopping centre, later combined with council housing, and now moving towards private flats, the building becomes a space where different lives, rhythms and transitions exist side by side.

Through images of residents, workers and the changing architecture itself, the exhibition reflects on what it means to inhabit a place that is being transformed around you. Dust, corridors, temporary structures and everyday encounters become part of a wider story about instability, belonging and adaptation.

Alongside documenting the site, Parallel also traces a more personal transition. The work considers how external changes in space can mirror inner changes in identity, memory and direction, holding together both collective and intimate experiences of uncertainty. Moving between documentary observation and personal reflection, the exhibition asks how we live through change while it is still unfolding.
