Conceived in Barton Creek, TX, USA (after missing a plane home...) Reuben's Daughters is the musical brain-child of Bath-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Reuben Myles Tyghe.

The self-recorded/produced debut LP Mami Wata will be released via French indie label Microcultures Records on April 1st 2022.

Reuben will be playing a handful of shows to support the album’s release with his 6 piece band featuring the
musicians who appeared on the record and additional special guests...

“Reuben’s Daughters is a moonlight swim under a weeping willow slide guitar forest... Ghosts and clouds turn into melodies that crouch on the banks and whisper pictures into your brain. It’s a cool album!”
Micah Nelson (Particle Kid)

The Reuben’s Daughters album “Mami Wata” is like some kind of holy mix of Martin Denny’s exotica adventures,
played by the Animal Collective and Robert Wyatt. My ears haven’t been here before… ! It’s playful and
adventurous pop where solid grooves undulate underneath technicolor island slide guitars.

Reuben’s vocals float like Colin Moulding’s later work with XTC or at times the marvelous Randy California on the overlooked “Son of Spirit” album. Every tune has its hook, which is no easy feat, but “Underwater Garden” is the hit on the radio station of my mind.

Who knew some of the sunniest new music in the world could be crafted in the southwest of England?
Kelley Stoltz (Castle Face/Sub Pop/Echo & The Bunnymen)
