18+ event. -- Hailing from Florence, an Italian hotbed of poetry and arts, Pearz is the musical moniker of multi-instrumentalist Francesco Perini. Having cut his teeth as a former member of The Hacienda and as session musician for the likes of Tess Parks and M!R!M, the London-based artist’s solo endeavours stem from “years of erratic and sleepless music nights”. Following 2020’s Nocturnal EP, new single ‘Social Amnesia’ is a disillusioned dance track that draws from a melting-pot of influences. Nodding to Italian soundtracks, elements of nu jazz and nostalgic hip-hop beats, the largely instrumental composition glistens with enthusiasm and a love for making music. Layering synthesized strings atop of a groovy bass line, reminiscent of Liquid Liquid’s famously sampled banger ‘Cavern’, the infectious rhythm section wouldn’t sound out of place on Primal Scream’s seminal Screamadelica.
