45 Live continues to shift up the gears with another new monthly night. Bristol sees Boca 45 joined each month by another member of the team and as things progress some special guests will no doubt make the cut. It's all happening at one of the city's best venues for funk and soul music, and kicking things off we have the mighty DJ Format bringing his sevens for a Boca/Format soundclash. 100% guaranteed righteous party vibes!
The History...
45 Live came together like most great plots/ideas with Pete & Scott putting the world to rights over a few pints at a pub in Bristol in the summer of 2014.
Scott had been playing mostly 7' sets on his DJ travels and Pete has always played a hefty load of 7's at his Jelly Jazz institute. Scott had also started the 45 Live club night at The Big Chill Bar in Bristol inviting DJ's to discipline their set by just bringing 45s. Guests over the 1st year have included the majority of the now 45 Live family alongside other heavyweight hitters such as Mr Thing, DJ Yoda & DJ Food. They all absolutely loved getting back to basics not bringing controllers, memory sticks or laptops, just 2 Technics and a mixer and a box of records! The audience too loved seeing and hearing DJs playing 45s.
Scott & Pete duly noticed that there were lots of DJs all over the Globe from Beirut to NYC to Sydney who've been falling back in love with the 45rpm single over the last few years. So the general aim is to consolidate everybody in one place, like-minded nice people who play the best recorded music format ever made in our humble opinion!
Music Policy: It doesn't need to be rare, just good, and not genre specific. As Jimi Hendrix once said...
'There are only 2 types of music - good or bad'.
