With most of us facing severely curtailed work for the foreseeable, we sound engineers are feeling a little existentially challenged.
We have a huge amount of incredibly interesting information about sound and music stuck in our brains doing nothing. While we usually hide behind the mixing desk doing our best to avoid any social contact with non-sound engineers as possible, our bank balances dictate we need to make an exception.

Hosted by us, the sound engineers that do our damnedest to make The Lanes and Crofters two of the best sounding venues in Bristol!
The terms are simple:
- You pay to enter
- We ask extremely interesting questions
- You give answers
- The person or team who gets the most questions right, gets some of the money
- We chuckle at how little the general public know about sound engineering
- You laugh at how stereotypically grumpy and strange we are
- We keep most of the money
Guaranteed better odds of winning than the National Lottery!
Tickets are £7 per head plus booking fee on a per table basis. Please ensure tables comply with your own COVID-19 bubbles/no more than two households per table. There are a very limited number of two person tables. You are not obliged to use all tickets, though we would of course love it if you can!
For your own safety, as well as to ensure the continued recovery of small venues and live events, it is vital you adhere to the following:
- Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell or experiencing any Covid or Covid-like symptoms.
- Please use provided hand sanitiser on entering and leaving both The Lanes and toilet facilities.
- Please use The Lanes’ app to place food and drink orders and only leave your seat if using toilet facilities or smoking area.
- Please take care to avoid shouting and keep to conversation level to reduce potential COVID-19 spread.
- The Lanes has a zero tolerance policy to poor behaviour and discrimination on any grounds. Please speak to the event or venue staff if you feel unsafe.
Accessibility:
The ground floor has standard table heights with two short flights of stairs to toilet facilities, while the lower ground floor where the stage has high tables and chair with one set of stairs. Entrance to the venue is step free.
