Run Into The Night at The Lanes

A gig held at The Lanes on Saturday 26th October. The event starts at 07:00.

Run Into The Night ~ Pitched as The Arctic Monkeys meets The White Stripes via something else quite quirky, dark and sensuous, the Glasgow duo consists of Christina Cassette (guitar/vocals) and Ellie May (drums/keys). The indie punk duo and best friends formed in the summer of 2017 when they had the idea of fusing genres and began experimenting with each track channeling a different influence from punk rock attitude to spaghetti westerns. It was important for them to think of unique themes and to release a music video for each single
to capture this.

They had success with their first self-released 7″ record ‘Turn To Static’ which reached the Top 100 songs by unsigned bands with Salute Music UK and the B-side ‘Never Ending Blues’ received airplay on Radio BBC 6 Music by DJ Steve Lamaq. Shortly afterwards Run Into The Night were touring the UK regularly and in 2018 released their second 7” record ‘The Devils Rhythm’. This followed by performances at festivals that year and in 2019 at EH6, King Tuts Summer Nights, Doune The Rabbit Hole, Hanwell Hootie and XPO North.

Performing live is where the duo really come to life by delivering raw energetic shows whilst recreating the experimental sound captured on their records. Their live performances captured the attention of Eastwood Guitars and Honey Boy Amps who’s equipment Christina proudly displays on tour. The duo has also opened for various acts such Deap Vally, The Filthy Tongues, Death Vally Girls, Goodbye Mr Mackenzie and Twin Guns (ex The Cramps).

Their new single ‘Mon Cheri’ is due for release on 23rd of August 2019, followed by a music video that features the musician Martin Metcalfe (The Filthy Tongues & Goodbye Mr Mackenzie) on acoustic guitar and vocals. Mon Cheri was written for Christina’s grandfather who recently passed away and inspired the duo to fuse Spanish guitar techniques with indie rock. The artwork also displays Christina’s grandparents of Italian and Lebanese heritage at
a masquerade party in the 1960’s.

“It’s always relieving to hear a band that captures the true essence of rock ‘n’ roll amid a sea of poseurs and pretenders and Run Into The Night are exactly that.” – Tenement TV

“Christina was a real proficient guitarist, and she had this stride and swagger on stage that was quite magnetic; you couldn’t take your eyes off her.” – Small Music Scene
