A
event
held at The Lanes
on Wednesday 6th February. The event starts at 19:00.
Here is a CBT mini-course of three sessions, in which I will go through the basics of CBT and give packs and help to those who would like to learn to apply it to their lives, and who may even be the agony aunt, and want to help their friends with better tools and vocabulary to do so.
The first is going to be looking at an overview of the anxiety mechanism, the way it manifests in the mind and to see that it is applicable to most people and though the content, intensity and contexts in which it becomes triggered is near infinitely varied, we can see that it is, in and of itself, ubiquitous in how it works.
We can then also look at exercises and ways in which we can identify triggers for ourselves and others and find clues into how even certain thoughts can cause this unconscious response which causes behaviour that makes us go 'Why did I do that?!" (or conversely, "why did I NOT do that!?")
This is the first of three, and inasmuch they are all important for each other if people are looking to find a way to give themselves therapeutic help and further their journey with a wider vocabulary and more techniques to help themselves where professional help is harder to find.
These sessions are going to be £8 for drop-in, but £20 for the three. Please get in early though as it is a small space. Also each are important for the other so buying together gives you the best insight into the ideas and applications.
The next ones will be:
How belief structures are created, and how how core beliefs structure our perceptions on the world.
&
Unhelpful thinking styles and cognitive distortions and how to change them.
