We’ve got a new home and an amazing folky line-up for you (to be announced soon)
We’ve got a busy year of Queer Storytelling events scheduled, so you can see us at The Llandoger Trow on a quarterly basis. Get your low income/general sale tickets in my bio!
We’ve found funding a continued challenge (no-one wants to support Queer artists, which is unsurprising) so all of your bought tickets and donations go into helping us pay Queer creatives.
Details of the event below:
‘Queer Storytelling with Evie Rey (& The Living Womb @the_living_womb & Angharad Iris @angharad_iris) is organised, curated, and hosted by an unfunded grassroot team of creatives.
Queer Storytelling (QST) is an intimate and immersive experience. Inspired by Celtic folklore and folk music, QST platforms Queer people in a gently explosive way.
Expect to see the most magical of Queer storytellers, telling tales proudly and diversely. Expect to hear music, see dancing, and transcend with spoken word. The event will be accompanied by an open mic (which we consider as the most organic forms of storytelling).
Refusing to be silenced, Evie Rey created QST as a space for expression and imprint. Unlike our oppressed Queer ancestors, this space invites you to safely share your/our stories loudly.
MEET YOUR HOST
Evie Rey (they/she) is Queer, Celtic folk storyteller. They strive to create art that openly celebrates and challenge’s identity.
Their exploration of identity delves into their own ancestry. Whilst focusing on their Celtic roots spanning Wales, Scotland and Ireland, they also look to combine this with their Queer identity. Ancient Celtic traditions and Paganism are of continued inspiration to them.
OUR VALUES
We strive to curate a diverse and authentic atmosphere, inviting you to show up in both solidarity and integrity.
This space is inclusive for all people, prioritising and supporting Queer and other marginalised creatives’.
MEET YOUR HEADLINER
Anna Anise is a warm summer breeze of feel-good folk, captivating audiences with her lyrical storytelling and glorious melodies. Anna’s passion for community through music is evident in her infectious energy onstage and ability to bring a whole room together with a hooky chorus.
The Celtic influence is evident in Anna’s full-bodied guitar tunings and regular fiddle accompaniment, which stems from her Cornish roots. Higher Plain Music commended ‘[Anna’s] melodies are fantastic, the arrangements sound fresh and yet the listener feels connected to old-school roots.’
Anna fell in love with folk music growing up in Cornwall and Devon, where she picked up a guitar aged 11 and never looked back. She went on to study music at BIMM Bristol, where she graduated with a first class honours degree in song writing. Now based in South Devon, you can find her playing regularly around Totnes and South West festivals.
