BonVILLE + Shadow Stevie + Mimi Jones at The Louisiana
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Cerebral electro-organic singer-songwriting from emerging Sweden-via-Bristol shapeshifter bonVILLE. Her melding of 60s folk sensibilities with über-contemporary, synth-soaked art pop promises to unspool the unsuspecting Louisiana ... there’s a ghost in the wires FFO: Caroline Polachek, Laurie Anderson, Dean Blunt, Chanel Beads, the RMC scene."

BonVILLE + Shadow Stevie + Mimi Jones (Dogsbody) live at The Louisiana, Bristol. Monday, 11th August 2025
bonVILLE is an art-pop project by Swedish singer and songwriter Vendela Lofbom. She writes ambiguous folk-influenced alternative music for people who like the moon and crying in public.

Frome-based 'Shadow Stevie’ arrives with a raw, stormy yet colourful, dream-like sound, rousing layers and flashes of wistful '90’s sad core combining beneath hooky pop tunes that channel early Tegan & Sara and Mazzy Star.
Yet it’s her unique Buckley / Liz Fraser esque-tinged vocals, strong melodies and distinctive sounds that also draw comparisons with Clairo and The Sundays .

There's a charm to the bruised honesty of her songwriting: emotionally-wrenching lyrics that are vulnerable yet facetious, charged by a cinematic sound that is brooding though often bright.
