Xav Clarke at The Louisiana
See event details

A gig held at The Louisiana on Monday 13th July. The event starts at 20:15.

Xav Clarke launches his new album at his first full band headline show in Bristol.

An indie-rock artist blurring the lines between homespun philosophical lyric writing and wonked-out cinematic fuzzy soundscapes informed by his award-winning composition work for animation and film; expect 'whimsical, wobbly dreamscapes—transforming scrapped cartoons, warped tape hiss, and off-kilter spontaneity into music where imperfection feels alive.' 2025 saw the release of Xav's last album 'Fossil Forest' released independently on his Jurassic Kid Records (produced by Mike Lindsay of Tunng/LUMP) and published by Warp Records. The record and lead single 'Bluebells' was often heard on BBC 6 by Cerys Matthews etc, with a live session for BBC Introducing accompanied by a 2 week UK/EU tour.

2026 sees a follow up album of lo-fi rock firecrackers and hits of sundazed longing, starting with the release of a new single 'DVD Region 3' from Xav in the spring, accompanied by an EU tour.

The first single 'DVD Region 3' (which features vocals by longtime collaborator Milly Upton) sounds like two friends searching for their story arc through wallets of scratched DVDs , that skip, yearn and sing to their dream's own rhythms - whilst drowning in a world of film-noise and nostalgia. Mixing Xav’s music's cinematic qualities with offbeat songwriting that is inspired as much by the cosmic tendencies of The Flaming Lips, as by the open hearted directness of Neil Young or Kurt Vile.

As well as his solo project, and band Itchy Teeth, Xav is a close collaborator of 80's cult icon Lawrence, performing and writing in his most recent guise as 'Mozart Estate'- spending some of this year on tour with Primal Scream.

Xav is also an award winning composer - currently shredding out and making the music for the new Pokémon series by stop motion legends Aardman after scoring and writing songs for the cult Cartoon Network show 'The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball'
