Big Long Sun - Valentine's Special at The Louisiana
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Forget yr single-minded Saint Valentine’s devotion, this one’s an orgiastic 5 bander across the kaleidoscopic alt/art rock spectrum, led by psychedelic octet Big Long Sun – a genre-bending delight FFO: Arthur Russell, The Flaming Lips + Of Montreal. Add in Shaking Hand’s swooning post-rock and baroque pop lushness from Blue Bayou… and you’ve got a love-in for the ages."

A gig held at The Louisiana on Valentines Day. The event starts at 18:00.

Join us on Valentines day at the Louisiana, to celebrate an evening of live music & art! Bring a mate, a date or just yourself < 3 We have an exclusive treat for the night - Giovanni's ( Love Potion—a rare concoction available at the bar) LIVE MUSIC: BIG LONG SUN 'A quirkily catchy, lo-fi, psychedelic-funk, dadaist-influenced, wonderfully oddball, original release by the Midlands-born, Brighton-based poet, painter, film-maker and multi-instrumentalist Jamie Broughton. A follow-up to 2024’s big long sun: speaking, all-round DIY creator Broughton conjures a variety of instrument and sounds, including guitar, synths and samplers, bass, drums, woodwind and layered vocal harmonies with a charming sparseness of eccentric eclecticism, with influences from woozy Conan Mockasin-esque psychedelic weirdness or the pop-funk-jazz of Steve Lacy or the alternative, experimental pop of Field Music.'-www.song-bar.com/ SHAKING HAND Manchester trio Shaking Hand have sealed the deal on an amalgamation of math, post-rock and experi-indie 90s greats. Imagine Tortoise, American Analog Set and Yo La Tengo housed up in the basement of a dilapidated factory floor. Enveloping rhythmic guitar lines and tight meandering instrumentals, they have cemented their reputation as one of the bands riding the next big wave out of their home city. LITTLE GRANDAD A mainstay on the windmill scene, Little Grandad is fast becoming one of London’s most talked-about new bands with a live show that’s equal parts chaos and chemistry. BLUE BAYOU Blue Bayou are a new wave, chamber pop band with horns and strings. They flit between ballads and dance numbers, slacker rock and art pop: eight bands in an eight song set. This is music in the fashion of Costello’s knocking knees. THE MALARKEY The Malarkey is a band all about the songs. Expect an experience of authentic, hooky, vulnerable tunes with thought provoking lyrics, and choruses that will stay in your head for days. ART EXHIBITON ( in the cellar) Exhibiting artists Alex Wander, Alfie Hatch, Annabelle Keyes, Bridie Nelson, Charli-Ann Padilla, Clara Sipf, Daisie Coates, Edward Richards, Eileen Jamieson, Eliza Mantis, Ella Lowther, Flossy Whyman, Freya Hoadley, Genevieve Rogers, Holly De Looze, Holly Humphries, James McColl, Jem Zorbozan, Joel Daw, Josie Marchant, Justin Quinnell, Kambhampati Suhas, Maïa Charbonnier, Macy Rogers, Millie Wood, Miranda Collis, Molly Casares, MUSTA&OCHRE( Collective), Scram (Collective), Sophie Andreae, Tayib Seaton, Thea Biallas, Tom Mills, Tula Youens-Stunel, Vida Stapley, Yasmin Egin, and Yasmin Ozyilmaz.
