A gig held at The Louisiana on Saturday 16th January. The event starts at 20:15.
Ben Boas launches his debut EP, Whatever It Is I Like It, with a full-band show at The Louisiana on Saturday 16 January.
Born in Barcelona and raised in Menorca, Ben now lives in Bristol, where he writes what he calls evolved RnB: soul and pop with electronic, hip-hop and bossa nova touches, built on jazz-style songwriting, with lyrics that move between English and Spanish, often in the same song.
He learned guitar at nine from Uruguayan bluesman Fernando Novoa, sang on Supermassive's "Rockstar" and "Deep Inside" (Armada Music, 500K+ streams), and recorded the EP mostly in Bristol, playing guitar and drums himself. Tracks from it have been played on BBC Introducing in the West and IB3 Ràdio.
On the night Ben is joined by his five-piece band: Jake Clements (drums), Finn Dunwell (bass), Max Wheatley (guitar) and Joe Kinnear (percussion). Expect the whole EP live, including "Myself" and "Red Paint", plus special guests to be announced.
Doors 8pm (TBC) · 18+ · Early bird £6, advance £8, £10 on the door.
