BOYS
This show marks the official release of Boys’ debut EP release; ‘New Age Cow Girl’.
Described as Cowboy Strange Pop, Boys were conceived within the confines of lockdown. The band began between three Stokey mates exchanging voice notes via WhatsApp. Operating from London, Lincolnshire and Somerset, Boy’s have made their nest in Bristol. Their sound depicts an audible definition of what it means to live in the Wild Wild East.
Milkie are a four-piece pop band from Bristol, and also the moniker of Frontwoman and songwriter, Millie ‘Milkie’ Phipps. Milkie recently left her job as the principal of a music university to refocus on actually making music herself. A songwriter’s songwriter, Milkie’s songs defy genre, skipping from folk to rock to eighties inspired pop, yet she creates coherency through her unique mix of storytelling, humour and a certain je ne sais quoi (which might have something to do with her ongoing obsession with la chanson Française). It is her mission to make you laugh, cry and dance at every show. 2024 is set to be a bumper year for Milkie with their next single due in February and many more to follow.
PET INSURANCE
Bristol based art rock, post-punk four-piece, combining angular guitar lines and dynamic drums with the charisma of an Essex-born frontman singing about the anxieties and isolation of modern life, through to his desire to become a TV opera singer. Think safe as milk era Beefheart meets Robert Smith, wrapped up with contemporary post-punk drive.
