Gnatcatcher | Defender | Candar

Gnatcatcher | Defender | Candar at The Louisiana

A gig held at The Louisiana on Thursday 7th January. The event starts at 20:00.

Tonight! Three bands play three sets and everyone has a really nice time. Gnatcatcher's first time at The Louisiana. Defender's first time in Bristol. Candar. will sell some tickets.

(We're not sure who the headliner is but someone will play last.)

---

Gnatcatcher was first spotted in early 2026, and has shamelessly leeched off of bands like My First Time and Pig City Committee around Bristol and London, as well as playing at Shambala and Groove Village Festivals, despite popular demand. ****

Gnatcatcher have been described by THE MOUTH as “Infectious”, and accused of "injecting an itch in the audience" with their “irresistible energy".

Gnatcatcher allegedly occasionally perform some kind of what you might call music for an amount of time. You are cordially invited.

dance-rock, indie, post-punk. garbage rock.

Defender are a six piece art-rock band based in East London. They have found themselves as a current favourite of the coveted Windmill Brixton, opening for Geordie Greep and Fat Dog in early 2026.

Capturing the attention of Michael Spearman of Everything, Everything “Defender have an individuality like no one else”.

Often compared to the likes of 1000Rabbits and Little Grandad - theatrical and tongue-in-cheek, Defender’s influences include everything from Sparks to Jerksin Fendrix and Fêla Kuti.

Candar. A name stolen from an abandoned flower shop. An alt-rock duo from the North Devon coast, blending melodic vocals with gritty guitar riffs and bombastic drums.

Ella and Finn grew up shaped by the coastline and surf, experimenting with the balance between noise and fragile melody together. Something about the chaos of the sea and the silence of the village influenced a search for a sound that didn’t exist yet. Playing in London introduced dark, sweaty venues and Candar was born.
