Josie Blakelock + Old Moll + Ellie James live at The Louisiana, Bristol. Tuesday, 7th January 2025

Josie Blakelock is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Bristol. Her music weaves together elements of autobiography with storytelling and poetic lyricism. Inspired by her love of literature and classic novels, she endeavours to write music that captures a feeling of truth, exploring themes such as loss, heartbreak, and the human condition. Inspired by the likes of artists such as Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Laura Marling, and Lana Del Rey, her live performances are uniquely captivating.

“Cinematic sound” – BBC Introducing

“Shimmering debut . . . mesmerizing vocals” – Mystic Sons

The songs of Old Moll catch stories that fell through the cracks of history: writing them back in with a folk-tinged and melancholic sound. Taking inspiration from Florence + the Machine, the Cure and Gwenno, Old Moll explores folklore, ancestors, and the magic of place in an empowering and sincere set.
