The alternative country-folksters, who have been compared with The Civil Wars, Nick Cave and Martha Wainwright, launch the release of their debut CD'Stick or Twist? ' - recorded at Jim Barr's (of'Portishead' fame) J&J studio. With support from Bristol folksinger Barry Walsh and one half of'Vapor': Mark Venus. £5 entry.
Bristol music scene veteran Elliot Hall and former'Betty and the Page' singer Rapunzel play darkly honest, lyrical folk music with a harmonious country tinge and a good deal of influence from 60's troubadours such as Dylan and Neil Young, as well as much older bluesmen from the Rob Johnson/Son House cradle. Often compared with The Civil Wars and individually, Martha Wainwright and Tom Waits, or Marianne Faithfull and Nick Cave, Elliot Hall and Rapunzel have collaborated on their first album together, recording each others songs and lending harmonies and various instrumentation into the mix. A must for fans of alternative music, folk and country, and those who are serious about no gimmick, good honest music given simply and with masses of passion
