An event on Wednesday 11th November. The event starts at 19:00.
Bristol’s food community is coming together with Salha’s Sudanese Kitchen for a special fundraising supper in support of Salha and her family, at The MAZI Project's Community Kitchen.
This evening is about community, solidarity and looking after one of our own. Salha will be doing what she does best, bringing people together around food with a delicious two-course Sudanese meal.
The evening will include:
* A two-course meal cooked by Salha
* A raffle with amazing prizes donated from across Bristol's community
Salha is an extraordinary chef, a formidable British businesswoman, a devoted mother to her five children, and a much-loved member of our community. After leaving Sudan she came to Bristol, a City of Sanctuary, to build a new life. Over more than a decade she has raised her children here and become part of the fabric of Bristol’s independent food scene through Salha’s Sudanese Kitchen. She has fed this city at community gatherings, private events, brewery gardens, and week after week at the Tobacco Factory Market.
Now, at an incredibly difficult time for Salha and her family, the food community that she has been part of for so long is coming together to stand alongside her. Following a serious attack on her son and subsequent threats and harassment, the family have had to leave their home and are facing significant uncertainty around their safety and housing.
All funds raised will go towards supporting Salha and her family as they work towards finding a safe and secure home.
Salha has spent years feeding this city. Now we're asking Bristol to come together and support her.
