The Schmoozenbergs:

“They have us racing around, peeking into other worlds… tapping toes and grinning from ear to ear” (Bristol 24/7)

Conjuring up the mood of 1930s Paris, fused with flavours of Eastern Europe and a liberal sprinkling of high energy folk, The Schmoozenbergs’ uplifting music will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step. With two guitars, violin and double bass, their irresistible rhythms, lyrical melodies and joyful improvisations create an upbeat and heart-warming sound.

Based in Bristol, the band formed in 2012, and have been delighting audiences at venues and festivals around the UK for the past decade. Their new album ‘Mouse’ is due for release on 15th March 2024. This collection of original instrumental compositions is influenced by a cocktail of musical traditions, from Gypsy jazz to Klezmer, Celtic, Balkan and beyond. Perfectly encapsulating the spirit of the band, the album flows between high-octane playfulness and moments of serenity and reflection. On Friday 22nd March, The Schmoozenbergs look forward to sharing new tunes (alongside some old favourites) in the atmospheric splendour of The Mount Without’s Crypt.

“Played throughout with much gusto…projects an infectious joie de vivre that will, no doubt, healthily up any heartbeat” (Morning Star)

“Unashamedly good time, beautifully played music” (Fatea Magazine) https://eartrumpetmusic.co.uk

Support:

Soufian Saihi

Soufian’s deep knowledge of Arabic and oriental music traditions, along with many years of exploration in rhythms and alternate music including forming the band Karama, has earned him much recognition as a virtuoso oudist. Soufian brought his skills to the UK in 2004 where he has progressed from street busking to the concert hall thanks to his remarkable musicianship.

His compositions fuse tradition with modernity, expect fine acoustic evocations of Sufi music and blues-inflected North African tunes.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
