The Days at The Mount Without
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Impermanence programmes yet another boundary-pushing dance / physical theatre delight in the celestial surrounding of the Mount Without. The Days sets a minimal, almost Scandi noir, scene for Maria Nurmela and Ville Oinonen to explore alternating movements and bodily narratives of empathy and care."

IMPERMANENCE Presents... THE DAYS: A compelling duet from Finland about care, resilience and the desire for connection

The Days invites the audience to share an encounter with two exceptional Finnish performers, Maria Nurmela & Ville Oinonen. Caught in an impossible loop of absurd and heartfelt exchanges, The Days engenders a world of shifting negotiations, complex feelings and comic disconnection. Taking the form of a lifetime shared, this is a compelling duet about care, resilience and the desire for connection.

Over the last 10 years, choreographer and designer Theo Clinkard has built an international reputation for creating affecting and visually arresting work for his company. He follows commissions for Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and Candoco with The Days, his first full-length duet work.

'The Days Project' is the initiative of Finnish dance artists, Maria Nurmela and Ville Oinonen who in 2017 Clinkard to create a duet they could perform together. Nurmela and Oinonen regularly collaborate and tour internationally with companies and choreographers whilst also creating their own independent productions.
