Mixing heavy sounds with a fluxus of analog noises and a narrative layer built up of voice samples borrowed from old movies and documentaries; Fuzz Orchestra carry out the belief that forgotten masterpieces lie in the vast sea of cultural production of the past and some of their voices are still true today.
Every one of their albums uses these voices to tell its own story: “Fuzz Orchestra” (2007) was about some of Italy’s most infamous moments of its contemporary history: fascism and late 60’s/70’s State terrorism; “Comunicato n°2” (2009) gives voice to those who tried to revolt against the inhuman capitalist world order. “Morire per la patria” (2012), which sees the entry of Paolo Mongardi ( Jennifer Gentle ( Sub Pop Records ) / ZEUS ) on drums, describes and critizes different ways of “Dying for your own Homeland”, from the defense of borders during the war to the selling of one’s soul to gain power and material richness.
Their most recent record, “Uccideteli Tutti! Dio Riconoscerà i Suoi” tells tales of Revelation, Judgement and Choice; taking you through different kind of Apocalypses: social, personal, profanes and sacred. Uccideteli Tutti! Dio Riconoscerà i Suoi” also takes Fuzz Orchestra’s music to a new level, putting together heavy patterns with contemporary music scores written by Enrico Gabrielli (Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane, PJ Harvey and many more)
"Post-death music full of modern life, in all its intriguing shades of grey, their sound is one of slowly unfurling melodies, distorted guitars, booming percussion and scything, glacial electronics.
... It may consist of just five tracks, but Ocean (debut album) is a spectacular and ambitious introduction to a band, who are more than willing to let their music spill out into lengthy and fully developed soundscapes" - For The Rabbits
IFQ play entirely improvised music with deep rooted grooves and textured walls of sound, blending influences such as post-punk, the New York no wave scene, electric Miles, avant garde sonics and the spirtual jazz movement into their own intense and uncompromising sound.
They are Harry Furniss (cornet) Ant Brown (bass) Tom J Bryan (guitar and electronics) Chris Langton (drums)
New duo from Christelle Atenstaedt ( Twin / Vena Cava ) and Chris Nicholls ( Oh, The Guilt / Age Decay )
"Their noise/synth experiment comes across like a Pissed-Off John Carpenter, recalling the simplicity of the great directors themes in an ear-battering noise/darkwave assault of the senses, full of haunted, howling vocals and crackling 80s drums" - The Cube Cinema Bristol
Working with drones, field recordings, noise samples and loops. Speech fragments are taken from news reels, reconstructed to make samples for decomposing social phenomena, to make them, visible, audible. Where Public Enemy understood themselves as Black CNN, LEGION OF SWINE can be understood as a Live Noise Blog, that formulates the discomforts and isolation that construct society. The collapsing of relations and the violence that forces this unease is put into sound as well as the reflection of the negativity these conditions create. The times of agitprop punk are long gone – the critic and the negation of hegemonic relations become noise, distortion, toxic in LEGION OF SWINE. No instruction, but cracks open up and traces are set – Fight the Power, somehow!
