MILON
Cypriot Psych-Jazz!
'Milon is fronted by tenor saxophonist Dino Christodoulou and electric guitarist Neil Smith, two very strong players coming from different backgrounds. Dino is a straight-ahead tenor player out of the Sonny Rollins tradition; Neil is a post-rock decidedly electric guitarist with few classic progenitors- maybe John McLaughlin at a stretch. He combines angular, sometimes dissonant funky chording with blistering solos, rapid flurries of overdriven notes and textural sustains. Dino contributes tunes with a Cypriot ( his nationality) flavour: churning rhythms and rapid riffs, very Levantine. Drummer Roberto Nappi and bassist Pasquale Votino excel at these grooves. Together they make for a tight sound on the edge of wildness.'

LORE
Lore is Bristol-based tenor saxophonist Greg Sterland and Helsinki-based accordion player and electronic musician Hugh Sheehan. Greg’s foundations lie in jazz and improvisatory music, Hugh’s in traditional music (namely Irish, also nordic, since living in Helsinki) and electroacoustic music. The duo’s work traverses the intersection of notation, improvisation and experimental process. They explore the idiosyncrasies of their respective instruments, both acoustic and electronic, their limitations and inherent and unique behaviours, and aim to place emphasis on the magnification and examination of the internal characteristics of sound. The duo was formed around 4 years ago and last year released their eponymous debut EP - loreuk.bandcamp.com https://loreuk.bandcamp.com/album/lore-ep
